Wintershall has drilled a dry hole with its 33/6-4 well offshore Norway near the Stafjord North field.

Drilled with the Borgland Dolphin semi-submersible operating in a water depth of 328 metres (1,075 feet), Wintershall Norge's well, located 25 kilometres (15.6 miles) north west from Statfjord North in PL370, penetrated to a vertical depth of 1814 metres (5,949 ft) and was aiming to prove petroleum in a Paleocene Lista formation, and it terminated in the Upper Cretaceous Jorsalfare formation.

The was being plugged and abandoned, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate reported, and the Borgland Dolphin is next due to drill the 34/6-2 wildcat operated by Total E&P Norge in PL 554.
