Operator Anadarko has opted to use Aker Solutions to supply umbilicals for its deepwater Lucius development in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Aker is to supply two electro-hydraulic production umbilicals, two gas lift umbilicals, three infield electro-hydraulic umblicals, and one infield gas lift umbilical.

All of the units will feature a PVC covering which the contractor says will provide predictable fatigue and friction performance, and better crush and impact resistance. Production of the umbilicals will be carried out Aker's facility in Mobile, Alabama, with deliveries scheduled for the third quarter 2013.

Lucius lies is 275 miles (442 kilometres) off Fourchon, Louisiana, in Keathley Canyon blocks 874, 875 and 919, in a water depth of approximately 2,100 metres (7 000 feet).
