Arrests for Greenpeace four
Four Greenpeace protesters who boarded the Stena Don rig working on a deepwater well offshore Greenland for Cairn Energy have been arrested.
BBC news reported that the four who had spent 40 hours on the rig had been taken into custody at lunchtime today.
Citing a Cairn spokeswoman, BBC Scotland said operations on the Stena Don rig have since resumed.
“The actions taken by Greenpeace remain a matter for the Greenlandic authorities,” Cairn stated.
A picture on a BBC website showed one of the protesters sitting on a small red platform suspended by ropes below the rig, and Greenpeace was reported to have said it decided to give up the action after the weather in the area worsened.
