GE nominated for Golden Eagle
Nexen UK has selected GE Oil and Gas to supply subsea hardware for its forthcoming Golden Eagle development in the UK sector of the North Sea.
Under deals worth a total of US $170 million GE is to supply wellheads, xmas trees, and additional equipment for the subsea layout at Golden Eagle in the UK Central North Sea.
And under another separate deal the contractor will also supply subsea control systems including its SemStar 5 electronic control module.
Equipment deliveries are due to be shipped this year for installation during 2013.
Previously GE has supplied equipment for Nexen UK's Buzzard and Ettrick field developments.
“We used a flexible approach to the configuration of the subsea, surface and capital drilling equipment, enabling Nexen to tailor the equipment designs to meet the specific needs of this project,” said Rod Christie, vice president of subsea systems for GE Oil and Gas.
GE is to supply the equipment through its UK manufacturing centre at Nailsea, near Bristol in the UK south-west, where GE has developed a new hyperbaric testing hall for subsea equipment, and a refurbished electrial and electronics assembly plant. The Nailsea site is also the centre for a remote subsea monitoring suite.
