Perenco UK has disclosed plans for a further gas development in the UK Southern North Sea.

Under plans for its Leman Tie back project, Perenco is aiming to tap a gas discovery drilled with the 53/2a-14a well drilled in the fourth quarter last year, which is to be exploited via a single subsea well and an 8-inch 9.2 kilometre (5.75 mile) pipeline back to the Leman 27A platform in UK block 49/27.

This Leman Tieback pipeline and a related umbilical is due to be installed in the third quarter this year.

As part of the project Perenco is also planning two further wells – one firm and one a contingency well -  and a short 2.5 km (1.56 mile) pipeline, which will link into the main Leman Tieback pipeline – in block 53/2.

The pipeline route will take gas from the 53/02a‐14A well in block 53/2, to the Leman 27A platform which is operated by Perenco.

Perenco assumes this shorter pipeline linking in the two new wells will also be installed in the third quarter this year, according to an environmental statement on the project seen by Offshore.no/International.

Drilling of the two additional wells – which are to tap what Perenco now calls the Leman South field – is planned for 2014.

After the pipeline is installed in the third quarter this year, the project schedule calls for the Leman Tieback well to be tied into the pipeline by third quarter 2013.  First gas from the field is anticipated either the second or third quarter next year.

Estimated reserves are put at 66 billion cubic feet and the two additional wells could add another 42 bcf to the Leman Tieback Development.

Production is forecast at  10 Mmcf/d of gas and field life is put at 17 so the facilities will be designed for up to 25 years.
