Longer for Luna

Drilling on the Luna prospect in the Danish sector of the North Seas with the Maersk Resolve jackup will be later than originally expected.

Originally the Resolve was due to become available to drill at the Luna well location in mid-August, under a letter of intent signed by 0/11 license operator Noreco.

But one of the Luna licence drilling partners, Elko Energy declared today that Noreco has advised that although the rig contract has now been signed, the Resolve is now expected to arrive at the Luna location in mid-September.

Currently the rig is drilling for Maersk Oil and Gas in the Danish North Sea at at location close to Luna and will only have to mobilise a short distance.
Luna is due to test a Rotliegendes reservoir with a pinch-out structure lying to the south-east of the licence area. The well is also aiming to eliminate uncertainty over whether the Rotliegendes structure does pinch out at the well location, or continues updip into another feature, designated as “Lead A and if this is connected with Luna.
