Lundin looks to Dolphin for further rig slots
Norwegian rig owner Dolphin Drilling has confirmed today that explorer Lundin Petroleum has booked three more drilling slots on the Bredford Dolphin semi-submersible for further appraisal work.
Dolphin Drilling – owned by Fred. Olsen Energy ASA - said today that Lundin has exercised options for three additional wells on the semi-submersible, which will be exercised as part of a continuing contract.
This new drilling programme is for a total of180 days, and is worth up to US $64 million. As part of the deal Lundin also has an option for a further contract extension with an additional well which has to be exercised by the end of February next year.
Lundin is currently planning further drillnig on the giant Aldous/Avaldsnes discovery, which is not thought to contain up to 3.5 billion barresl of oil.
