Mediterranean finds now top 35 Tcf says Noble
Noble Energy has reported another major gas fiend in the eastern Mediterranean Sea offshore Israel.
Noble said it has made the find on the Tanin prospect in a water depth of 5,100 feet (1,554 metres) in its Alon A licence and it is 13 miles (20 kilometres) north-west of the previous Tamar field discovery..
“Discovered gross resources are estimated to range between 0.9 and 1.4 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) with a gross mean of 1.2 Tcf,” Noble said. “This discovery de-risks other prospects located in the vicinity of Tanin.”
Tanin is the sixth consecutive find in the Levant Basin, the company disclosed, and four of these finds have estimated gross mean resources of more than 1 Tcf, and total discovered gross mean resources in the Levant Basin are now estimated at approximately 35 Tcf.
Noble operates the Alon A licence with 47.06% partnered by Israel's Avner Oil and Delek Drilling, which each holds 26.47%.
