New face for industry training group
Larraine Boorman is the new face for the UK oil and gas industry skills training body OPITO who has taken over as managing director.
Ms Boorman has been appointed as MD at the Aberdeen-based organisation to replace David Binnie who left Opito last October for a new career in New Zealand.
Previously Ms Boorman formed her own start up company, ACUA, operating within the higher eduction sector, and she is also a former chief executive of a training company and managing director of another.
Her new role will be overseeing the further development of the UK-based oil and gas industry training entity which serves on and offshore markets, and which now exports its training and services worldwide.
“I have worked across a number of industries and what I see in the oil and gas sector is a clear recognition of the skills challenges it faces and a real desire to work collaboratively to address them,” Ms Boorman said as her appointment was announced. “Opiate’s strength lies in its connectivity to the industry, education and government and I look forward to the challenges this new and exciting role will bring.”
