British-based BG Group has inked a technology agreement with CGGVeritas to work on new techniques including sub-salt imaging.

Together the two groups are to collaborate on development and deployment of advanced seismic techniques which will include broadband data acquisition and processing, plus complex sub-salt imaging, deep geological targets and unconventional gas.

“The solutions developed and field trials performed will help BG Group successfully address technology challenges across a broad range of conventional and unconventional assets,” said James Faroppa, chief technical officer at BG, pictured (left) at the agreement signing with Jean-Georges Malcor, chief executive CGGVeritas.

And Lionel Lhommet, CGGVeritas’ executive vice president for geo-markets and global marketing, added: “This will enable us to develop innovative tailored seismic technologies to best resolve their specific subsurface imaging challenges.”
