Sevan rig accepted

One of Norwegian Sevan Marine's new floating platforms has just been accepted to commence drilling offshore Brazil and the construction of two other hulls is going to plan the company reports today.

Sevan Marine says the Sevan Brasil was accepted for work on 24 July and it has now commenced a six-year contract drilling for Petrobras offshore Brazil. Currently the drilling unit is loading up supplies before moving to its first drilling location for Petrobras.

Meanwhile construction of the Seven Drilling Rig No. 3 is progressing according to plan, and the erection of the main hull is now underway, whilst fabrication has also commenced of the drill floor and living quarters. Construction of the main hull for Sevan Rig No. 4 is also now underway.

All the unit's are being built at China's Cosco Nantong Shipyard

Last month, after a 12-month Front End Engineering and Design study, a Sevan Marine FPSO platform was chosen as the development concept for the Dana Petroleum operated Western Isles development in the UK sector of the Northern North Sea, which will tap the Harris and Barra discoveries, east of the Shetland Islands.
