Wood Group Mustang books Ivar Aasen

British-based John Wood Group has landed a key engineering contract for Norway's Ivar Aasen field development.

Wood Group's Houston-based Mustang Engineering has been awarded a contract to perform detailed design engineering for the topsides on the Ivar Aasen fixed platform production facility by SMOE in Singapore, which is building the facility under an EPC contract. 

Up to 200 Wood Group staff are to work on the project at peak, which will involved designing the 13,700 tonnes topsides including a flare stack, living quarters and process facilities.

Wood Group Mustang staff in both London and Kuala Lumpur will work on the project, which is to b e installed in a water depth of 112 meters (367 feet).

Steve Knowles president of Wood Group Mustang said: “Receiving news of this project award was extremely gratifying. We are looking forward to starting work on Det norske's first major facility and developing an excellent relationship with them, in addition to enhancing our existing relationship with SMOE.”
